My birthday month planning is underway!
I've been tossing around various ideas for my birthday celebrations such as, picnic, melodrama, miniature golf, dinner, happy hour, brunch...lots of different ideas, but one plan has officially fallen in place ~
One big tip I have for Vegas goers is to sign up for the rewards card of the casino you are staying at. It may seem hokey to insert those cards into slot machines and unless you gamble a ton of money, you don't see a lot of benefit. The rewards program, and where the benefits come in, is based on money spent. It's more than how much money you spend gambling, it's everything you spend while you're in Vegas - food, drinks, room accommodations, amenities, show tickets, etc.
Last year, my husband and I spent a couple of nights in Vegas for our honeymoon. The lady checking us in at the Bellagio gave us the best tip: charge everything we can to our room and pay for everything at our checkout, once our rewards card was linked to our room. Since the Bellagio is part of the chain owned by MGM, the mLife rewards program works at all MGM owned properties (Aria, Monte Carlo, New York New York, Excalibur, Luxor, Mandalay Bay, and others) so almost any activity we did could be charged back to our room and added as points to our account.
This little tip worked and our one brief stay pushed us up from the base Sapphire level to the next level, Pearl. At the Pearl level, we get shopping and dining discounts, complimentary parking, and occasional special offers, like discounted cabana rates and room discounts or comps.
So, I'm excited! Although, to be honest, I think I would rather attend the Ricky Martin concert, but no one seems to want to go to that one. Sorry, Ricky.
I will definitely post about the road trip, my Vegas stay, and all my other experiences during this trip. Stay tuned!!
